This issue, despite the potentially exciting subject matter, is a rather staid affair. Each one is postcard-sized and features a black-and-white photo on the front. The series name is given in a block at the bottom followed by the card number, then a small bit of biographical text and the copyright line. The backs are blank.
Despite this rather plain design, the set boasts some interesting artists, from Elvis to Sam Cooke to Frank Sinatra. Completist collectors may want to pick up specific cards rather than spring for the entire set.
The cards were issued 3 at a time in cello packs.
Value: Individual cards in Excellent condition can bring between $1.50 and $8.00, depending on the celebrity pictured (with the Elvis Presley card going for about $15.00). A complete set can bring between $120.00 and $150.00.
